The Legal Newspapers dataset contain active newspapers that have filed with the Office of the Secretary of State as of February 4, 2014. Filled legal newspaper registrations exist to inform the general public that a newspaper has met the filing requirements with the Office of the Secretary of State. However, a filing does not constitute a guarantee that any other qualifications have been met.

GeoJSON is a geospatial data format based on JSON (JavaScript Object Notation). The GeoJSON files below are designed for use in online applications. They include voting precinct boundaries as well as the name, county, and election districts (US Congress, MN Senate and House, County Commissioner) for each precinct.

These files are intended to provide basic information regarding the location of election districts within the state. For the most accurate information on precincts and districts, as well as polling place information, please use the Polling Place Finder.

Provides an API to MetroTransit data such as real-time bus locations and schedules. The API is not well documented; you can do things like "?format=json" to get json from the API, or use "?callback=example" for JSONP.

City parks in MN

Received from the City of Minneapolis in March of 2014 via data request from CJ Sinner for Pioneer Press project.

The original data was in ESRI Shapefile format but the City did not want to share the original format but was ok with the KML format; all the same data should be in the original KML file. Download the original dataset to see the attributes with each data point.

Received via email on 2014-02-14. This data is polygon data that describes all plowing routes in Minneapolis that has a field for day1, day2, and day3, and marks a 1 when parking is allowed there on that day. So, on day1, snow emergency routes will be 0 while day2 and day3 will be 1.

The Notary dataset contains active notaries as of January 31, 2014. The notary acts as an official, unbiased witness to the identity of the person who signs a document (Minnesota Statutes 359) to prevent fraud and forgery. A Minnesota notary public has six major duties:

1. Take acknowledgments,
2. Administer oaths and affirmations,
3. Take and certify all depositions;
4. Witness or attest a signature,
5. Take and certify all acknowledgments and instruments in writing,
6. Record notarial protests.
